Remote global support systems
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced adoption of remote teaching without much time for training & relevant skills acquisition. However, on a positive note, this period also acts as motivation for adopting and learning remote teaching skills. It is within this background that one can brainstorm on remote peer support & mentoring initiatives, including those pertaining to self-motivation. I have found it useful and motivating to learn from other academics at various institutions around the world. Especially on how they have managed to build a new kind of support via virtual platforms as well as social media. Therefore remote teaching & support is a phenomenon that is likely to remain with us in the future & can be a sustainable solution to global collaborations.
Peer support within one's discipline is useful in identifying applicable tools that enhanced teaching & learning. We must also remember to constantly attend training to upgrade our digital teaching practical skills & knowledge. How else can we thrive in this new normal?
